Charlie Roberts
Landscape and overland photographer based in Sheridan, Wyoming. Twelve years in camera departments. After a fire in 2019 I bought a van, and I now plan my work around the forecast.
Charlie to write · a pull quote, something you have actually said about the work
I grew up in Sheridan, Wyoming, at the foot of the Bighorns. It is ranch country, open enough that you can watch a storm cross the basin an hour before it reaches you. That is where I got used to watching light.
I learned the technical side on other people's productions: television, camera departments, commercial sets. I worked out what I actually wanted to photograph in the hour before call, on my own time.
In 2019 the fires came through Los Angeles and took my apartment. What was left fit in a camera bag, so I bought a van and went back to the mountain West. I have worked out of it since.
